Denmark has rejected Ghazaleh's asylum case and told her she must return to Iran by 21 October 2026. In Iran, executions are at a 36-year high: at least 1,639 people in 2025, including 48 women. The UN has found that women held by Iran's security forces have been raped and tortured. Denmark itself paused returns to Iran in January because of the danger, then started them again in August.
